My next technology journey!

I have been having several interesting conversations with Roger Wagner, the creator of HyperStudio, lately about teaching with technology.   He passed on some great teaching ideas!      It would be really fun to use my Lumens DC265 document camera and HyperStudio 5 to create a stop-action movie!   I could also record a “normal” movie and insert it into a HyperStudio stack to be part of a larger project for my students….the wheels are turning!   I sure wish there were more than 24 hours in a day!

To learn more about HyperStudio go to:  http://www.mackiev.com/hyperstudio/

Roger Wagner also has an area on Facebook for folks interested in sharing their ideas about how to use HyperStudio in education called HyperFest Central

If you use HyperStudio PLEASE send me some of your projects, I would LOVE to see them!  I am just re-learning HyperStudio after taking a long vacation.   When I create my first project I will be sure to share it here!

If your readers would like to see the best description of HyperStudio, read what teachers had to say about it at the U.S. Dept. of Education National Educational Technology site, set up to survey teachers about their most effective uses of technology in the classroom.

HyperStudio topped the list with 55 votes, far beyond any others. You can read what teachers said about their own experiences with the software here:

p.s. Here’s something that will make you smile: Your blog page was picked up, apparently translated into some non-English language, and then translated back here:

I’ve got a question for users of lsviecribe. I just bought one, and love the pencast feature. But is there a way to create one that does NOT show the lines before the pencast starts? When using audio, you can see traces of the lines before the pencast starts, which makes it impossible to surprise the viewer. Any suggestions?

When the viewer opens up the pencasts there are 3 options in a pull-down menu. One of the options turns off the “pre-viewer”. This way they get a blank screen.
I have found if I run it that way then it seems to stay that way so that when a user opens it, the default is already with the “pre-viewer” turned off.
