Recording with a Lumens document camera

I just got a Lumens DC265 Ladibug  document camera to try out!   I created a couple of videos for my students using it.  It is amazing!

Here is the first video I made for my Intermediate Algebra students, showing how to put quadratics into “vertex form”.

Here is one of the videos I made using it for my Intermediate Algebra students, showing how to derive the Vertex Formula.

I am finding it much easier to embed the videos straight from YouTube, rather than trying to change the format of every tool I have to work well with Dreamweaver and other website software I use.

  1. Sue – how on earth are you getting so much technology to try out? Did you make a deal with the devil?

Some of the products I purchased myself, but some are on loan for a hands-on workshop I am doing this summer for the dept of Education. Going to the CUE conference in California really helped me meet some wonderful connections!

Can I ask which encoding settings you used? I have a Lumens document camera (a different one than yours), and I recorded one of my lectures using it. The video looks fine on my computer, but when I upload it to Youtube you can’t make out any of the writing due to the blurring of the Youtube video. I think the encoding is responsible, but I don’t know what encoding settings in the software to use. Please help me if you can. Thanks.

I believe the only output available on the camera is .avi. I cannot remember now, but I believe I used a program like Camtasia to edit the video and change to probably a .mov format before uploading to YouTube, since I was also using it for my classes as well.
I will try to go back and find the original files (if I still have them!) and let you know.

I do not believe I changed any of the settings on the camera itself, only rendered it from Camtasia to a different format.
